Purple Mountains Majesty

The "Purple Mountain Majesty" is an old saying to describe the beautiful state of Colorado. In Colorado you can hike countless trails to great views or ski on the same mountain in the wintertime. You can also fish in the rivers, lakes, and streams. Colorado is the best place for any outdoor loving person all year round!

In the summer of 2019 my family took a trip to Colorado to check out the area and visit some old friends. We first arrived in Breckenridge where we started our hiking once we got settled in, so we could explore the city at night. Breckenridge has beautiful masses of water and numerous cute shops all around the city. The last day we spent in Breckenridge was at a family farm a little under an hour away where we went horseback riding. We spent hours riding through the mountains and hills until we had to make our way to the next location.

Our next stop was Estes Park, where Rocky Mountain National Park is located. We spent two and a half days hiking different trails and observing wildlife around us. We saw some elk, bears, and a moose. One of my favorite hiking trails was Emerald Lake, this trail is about 3.2 miles round trip to a beautiful green-blue looking lake. A hidden gem we found near where we stayed was a trail through some woods to a waterfall were me and my family swam and hung out for a few hours before dinner each night.

Our last stop of the trip was to our family friends house in the mountains. We were so excited to be able stay in the mountains where we had easy access to such beautiful trails. We started off many of the says hiking with our friends through some of their favorite trails, many of them we even walked through snow although it was summertime. We would come back to the house after lunch because we had packed lunches to eat on the hike. The rest of the day was pretty relaxing, I spent most of my time on the porch outside enjoying the view and the cool air with a book and a blanket. There was little to no reception so we all enjoyed playing cards an board games when we had extra time.

I would advise all of you to take a trip to Colorado and have the chance to escape reality. It is refreshing to be able to take a step back and realize all the great things you are missing in the world.
