travel foods

One of the best parts of going on vacation is knowing you do not have to take the time to cook homemade meals. My mother loves knowing the only thing she may have to do is warm up breakfast or make a few sandwiches for on the go. My family typically stops at the store to grab some simple snacks, breakfast foods, and sack lunch materials to have around if needed. This way we can have extra food and flexibility depending on our plans for the day. But the best thing about traveling is the opportunity to try new foods and experience depending on where you are staying or vacationing to.

Breakfast is typically a quick and easy meal in my house, on vacation we usually make some fast eggs, eat cereal, or toast a bagel and get on with the day. On other days where there is not much of a rush, my family will go to a local coffee shop or bakery and try some of their most popular items. My favorite place to go on a warm and tropical vacation is an acai place to try their great mixes of fruits and sweet flavors. No matter if you find food at a bakery, cute walk-in breakfast place, or finding food from home you can never fail to find some breakfast food you will like!

Lunch is a very flexible meal when traveling which can often be pushed off or forgotten about. Most days when my family will be going to the beach or hiking throughout the afternoon we pack sandwiches and small snacks to bring along so we do not have to waste time to stop and eat. On other days where we do not have much going on, we try to stop at local carts along the streets or small restaurants to try different appetizers and other things they may be known for. My favorite snack of all time is euca bread which we were introduced to in Ecuador. I would have never tried a snack so simple yet so delicious if I was never allowed to visit there. There are numerous carts with tacos, hot dogs, or some out-of-this-world snack combinations all-around cities such as Chicago or new york. Other places on the coast such as Florida, Alabama, or California have many small shops and restaurants by the beach where you can find simple meals with multiple choices and options to choose from. There are always places no matter where you travel to that will fit your desires and cravings.

Dinner is my favorite meal of the whole day. No matter if you have been chilling at the beach, hiking for numerous hours, or walking and shopping around the city, a big meal to finish off the day always tastes amazing. A big hit for my family is finding a new Mexican place where we can find their twist on some basic meals most Mexican restaurants have. Mexican restaurants also have great options for kids of all ages. My family tries our best to stay away from chain restaurants and find authentic places to eat whether it be Italian, Vietnamese, Mediterranean, or anything else we can find around!
